SIENA - Sustainability, the University of Siena has joined the global “International Sustainability Campus Network”. The Rector Angelo Riccaboni presented the Siena project at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The University of Siena has recently joined the International Sustainability Campus Network: a global network of universities committed to the issues of sustainability from the point of view of research and education. The network is currently holding its annual conference in Boston, to which Professor Riccaboni has been invited.
Professor Riccaboni, who has been working to create a dense network of international contacts, illustrated the model of development regarding sustainability issues adopted by the University of Siena at the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) yesterday. “I am honored – said Riccaboni – to have had the opportunity at this conference, held at the MIT and Harvard before representatives of universities from all round the world, to present the University of Siena’s model, which is inspired by a land of excellence, where local sustainability policies are integrated with a history that has always prioritized the relationship between human activities and nature. I described our research and teaching initiatives and the improvements to services that we are implementing in the context of sustainability, as well as highlighting our guiding role on these issues in the Mediterranean, as coordinators of the Med Solutions Network.”
The International Sustainable Campus Network, which counts among its members the most prestigious US universities, such as Stanford and Yale, as well as Harvard and the MIT, constitutes a global forum for sharing projects and information for sustainable development. The conference will conclude on 4 June.
